D. L. MayfieldD.L. Mayfield is an essayist, activist and author of Assimilate or Go Home: Notes from a Failed Missionary on Rediscovering Faith (HarperOne 2016). Her essays have been nominated for the Pushcart prize and been an honorable mention in the Best American Essay 2016 collection. Mayfield likes to write about refugees, evangelical Christianity, gentrification, and downward mobility. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her family. Her writing has appeared in a variety of places, including McSweeneys, Vox, Christianity Today, and Sojourners. She is a co-founder of the Refugee and Immigrant Hospitality Organization (RIHO).
