Disarming Beauty

A dialogue

With Fr. Julián CARRÓN, Professor of Theology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan and President of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation

and discussants Michael HUEMER, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado, and Curtis MARTIN, Award-winning author and founder of FOCUS

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Center and Communion and Liberation

In 2005, Father Carrón became the leader of the global ecclesial movement Communion and Liberation, following the death of its founder, Father Luigi Giussani. In the footsteps of his newly released book, Disarming Beauty, Fr. Carrón will offer a broad analysis of the pressing questions facing today’s society: the challenges of societal integration, the purpose of education, the difficulty of motivating young people, and developments in family life: Is it possible to find common ground in an increasingly polarized world? Is there a way for a true, wide-ranging dialogue with people from different backgrounds? What is the role of education in modern society? Is it possible to regain a sense of wonder and desire in front of life?

Grappling with the interaction of Christian faith and modern culture, Fr. Carrón invites the listeners to an ongoing conversation about the meaning of faith, truth, and freedom on the threshold of a new epoch.
